G. William (“Bill”) Bavin, Managing Partner – A co-founding Managing Partner of The Washington Corporation, Bill Bavin has more than two decades of financial, business, and management experience.  Since 1994, he has specialized in advising education companies and investors on capital formation, mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, valuation, and strategy. His practice includes all facets of the education market across the life-long learning continuum, including content companies, education service providers, and infrastructure. In 1998, Mr. Bavin co-founded Education Capital, LLC, which provided capital market solutions, sophisticated transaction advice, and sound consulting services to scores of emerging and middle-market education companies. Prior to his concentration on the education industry, he was a generalist with significant experience a broad range of industries and financial instruments. Mr. Bavin received his B.A. in History from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Total Education Solutions, Inc., a California-based special education company, and T100 mentor at the University of Virginia, advising Goha Learning, the Institute on Aging, and PALS. Mr. Bavin is a FINRA Registered Representative, holding his Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses.
C. Neilson (“Neil”) Cooper, Managing Partner – Building on a roughly two decades experience advising clients in the information technology industry, Mr. Cooper is a co-founding Managing Partner of The Washington Corporation, and spearheads the firm’s activities in the information technology industry. Throughout his career, Mr. Cooper has advised his clients on capital formation and deployment matters, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic issues at firms such as Bear Stearns, Citicorp Venture Capital, Roth Capital and The Bank Street Group. In 2008, Mr. Cooper founded Tech Acumen LLC, which provided strategic advisory services for its information technology clients. Mr. Cooper’s experience spans hardware to software, applications to infrastructure, an array of business models, certain IT industry verticals, and a series of major technology market sea-changes (e.g. n-tier computing). Mr. Cooper has spoken at major IT industry conferences and has been periodically quoted in the business media. Mr. Cooper currently serves on the board of directors of WhamTech. Neil holds a B.A. degree in Politics and History from Guilford College and an M.B.A. degree with concentrations in finance and strategy from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. James J. (“Jim”) Hoban, Managing Partner – A Washington Corporation co-founder, Mr. Hoban advises clients on placement and syndication activities. For the past 25 years Mr. Hoban has compiled an outstanding capital markets track record with a wide variety of buy-side institutions, both public and private. In 2002, Mr. Hoban established Orion Capital Management as an institutional sales and marketing organization focused on raising capital and establishing business relationships for financial institutions, institutional research firms, hedge funds, fund of funds, real estate, money managers, and infrastructure. Mr. Hoban has held senior executive capital markets positions for IBF Securities, Providian Capital Management, PLM International, and SunAmerica Capital. He is actively involved in numerous charitable organizations in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area; Board member of the Excel Institute in Washington D.C., a non-profit organization for the education of underprivileged children; Former Board of Fellow member for the University of Santa Clara; Honorary Chairman of the 200th Anniversary of the White House; avid golfer and member of the USGA. Mr. Hoban graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from University of Santa Clara and attended the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.
Gordon Treco, Managing Partner – Mr. Treco is a co-founding Managing Partner of The Washington Corporation, leading the firm's engagements with environmental services and healthcare services clients. Mr. Treco brings more than twenty years of mergers and acquisitions and capital raising experience involving public and private transactions with an aggregate value of more than $9 billion. Mr. Treco has held senior investment banking positions with several investment banks throughout his career. Of particular note, Mr. Treco was part of the Diversified Industries Group of Friedman Billings Ramsey & Co., where he advised clients in the capital goods and environmental services industries. Prior to Friedman Billings Ramsey, Mr. Treco distinguished himself for more than 15 years with Citigroup, focusing on debt and equity financings, recapitalizations, mergers and acquisitions advisory, and divestiture assignments on behalf of the firm’s clients, as well as for Citigroup’s own account. Mr. Treco received his B.A. in History from Denison University. Mr. Treco is a FINRA Registered Representative, holding his Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses.
William G. DuBose II, Director, Business Development; Mr. DuBose is responsible for managing the various aspects of the firm's go-to market strategy. Mr. DuBose's career spans more than twenty years in residential real estate finance in both the primary and secondary markets, where he has was primarily engaged in business development for such firms as B.F. Saul Mortgage Company, Chevy Chase Bank, and Chase Manhattan Bank. Prior to joining The Washington Corporation, Mr. DuBose spent over nine years as a senior product developer and product manager with Fannie Mae. Mr. DuBose is a native Washingtonian who attended St. Albans School before earning his B.A in History from Washington & Lee University.
